I haven't been posting much on my blog and I feel out-of-touch with you guys.
I've been keeping my nose to the proverbial grindstone and trying to catch up on my editing backlog. On one hand I'm thankful that I have so much work to do - especially in this economy - but on the other hand, I feel badly for my awesome clients who have to wait so much longer than to receive their wedding movie than they had originally anticipated. Of course, you all understand that the delay is caused by my dedication to a great movie and not me goofing around, but that doesn't make anyone's wait any shorter.
So here's my pledge to you guys.
Anyone whose wedding took place in or before July 2009 will receive their movie before Christmas. You can mark my words.
And as far as my workload and the fear of burning out, I'll try to keep my creative juices flowing by going on minor creative excursions here and there. Here is a short video that I shot at 2:14 in the morning just outside my house last week. Doing things like this and other projects will help me avoid editors' block. :-)
Interesting turn of events. That's a phrase best suited to describe plot twists in mystery novels and cinematic thrillers.
Well, here's a plot twist for the event videographer... (excerpt from Philippine News Mag, www.inquirer.net)
"'I will definitely run for vice president. Nothing has changed my mind on this,' ... [Ronaldo "Ronnie"] Puno told reporters here on Monday.
Puno, who was here to meet with Central Luzon officials, has reassumed his post at the Department of the Interior and Local Governments (DILG) following a trip to the United States.
While Puno was on leave, Public Works Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. took over his post at the DILG in an acting capacity.
Questions were raised about Puno’s trip to the US and the appointment of an acting secretary at the DILG when Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita told media Puno was on medical leave, which the interior secretary immediately denied.
Earlier, Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr. said Puno's silence bolstered suspicions that he was on his way out of the Cabinet.
But Puno dispelled speculations that he would be leaving the Cabinet and that he went to the US in connection with his political plans.
"Senator Pimentel just doesn't know the many communications I had with the President while I was in the US," said Puno.
He said he went on a two-week vacation leave to attend the wedding of his daughter in the US and to visit his parents."
Rewind to July 4th: Andrew shoots a Sonoma wedding for his wonderful clients, Brian and Tami Puno. Unbeknownst to Andrew, Tami's father is Ronaldo Puno, SILG (Secretary of the Interior and Local Governments) for the Philippines. In light of the controversy and rumors surrounding his two-week leave to the United States, Tami asks Andrew is he can whip up a little wedding trailer depicting her father (in good health) enjoying his daughter's wedding.
Not to disappoint, Andrew makes this wedding trailer which is now being circulated by those who Tami and Andrew jokingly refer to as Mr. Puno's "handlers."
Who knew that a simple videographer would be tied up in such political intrigue and be relied upon to quell the swelling rumors of a political maelstrom! hahaha!
This is the video I made for Tami and Mr. Puno. Enjoy!
You can follow Ronnie Puno on Twitter to see posts like the one made earlier today: "ronniepunoshares http://vimeo.com/5740224 - My daughter's wedding - July 4, 2009"
In this post I talk a little about the evolution of my brand some of the mistakes I made along the way. In a future post, I talk about the Canon MkII 5D and some other things. Be sure to check it out.
Being selected to be featured on a top industry blog like this is amazing! I can't believe my eyes! Someone pinch me. :-)
Check it out! The Beltane Ranch video that my friends at Thi Cosmetics invited me shoot is a hit! I'm so encouraged by what Abby Larson of Style Me Pretty said about my video. It just made my day!
"You are going to LOVE this next feature. And I mean seriously love.
The ridiculously talented Andrew Hsu of Studio MSV sent us this little clip that he put together during a photoshoot for Brides Northern California Magazine.
I mean…is that not the greatest thing you have ever seen?"
Thanks Abby and the SMP gang for the feature and the super nice words, (and for following me on Twitter!)
Why use MSV Save the Date Movies? The reasons are bountiful!
Because movies are awesome - and starring in your own movie is doubly awesome!
Because movies are the wave of the future! (You know YouTube but there's no such thing as YouCards.)
Because it saves trees! I can post your video on your own special website and you can simply email your guests the URL without downing a single tree!
Because it saves on postage - which saves on fossil fuels. Do you hate the earth? >:-(
Because it's different than the save the date cards your girlfriends got for their wedding last year (which makes your rad!)
Because it saves money! At $550 per video, it can be cheaper than many Save the Date cards you'd get online (don't forget postage!)
Because if you use Save the Date Cards instead of Save the Date Movies, you have to say "STD" instead of the less noxious "SDM" :-) hahaha! Just kidding!
So what does a Save the Date Movie look like? Here's one that I did for Thomas (of Thomas John Events) and his lovely fiancée, Melissa. (Yes, astute, readers! You're right - it's from my previous post here! Congratulations for remembering!)
I'll be at at the Bay Area Professional Videographer Association tonight speaking on the merits of the Canon 5D MkII. If you're in the area (Santa Clara) or if you've always wanted to know about the MkII and how it can help improve your business, you should totally come!

One of the cool things about working for yourself is that you can set your own hours and it's likely you can cut down your commute to almost nothing. I work from my home studio so my commute consists of walking down a flight of stairs.
But lately, I've been spending so much time in San Francisco, it feels like my second home!
Check it out:
Tuesday: Dinner with Evonne Wong of www.awaysoiree.com - direct from Maui! I shot with Evonne last March for my special edition of Vendor Chic. (The teaser trailer for that movie can be found here.) Here are some pics from that dinner - from Evonne's blog.
Then, on Wednesday, The Knot had a gala event at the SF Design Center Galleria and I was invited to be the official videographer at the event. (The fabulous Michelle of MB Wedding Design was the selected coordinator of the event! Great job, MB!) While there, of course, I was able to meet up with many old friends and meet some new ones! I snapped just a couple of pictures; here are some of them.
Then, on Thursday, I headed back out to San Francisco again to meet up with the aforementioned Kathy Goodman for some pastries and a chat just before heading off to a prospective client meeting in the Mission District.
I need frequent flyer miles for crossing the Bay Bridge!
A while back, I posted about a project I was invited to work on for the Volunteers of America charity organization. Well, after a bunch of red tape, meetings and coordinating of schedules, we finally went on our first day of shooting last Thursday.
I brought along my new friend, Luke Goodman to be the photographer for the project. Luke has experience shooting productions stills for feature films so I thought that would be perfect for what the VOABA was looking for on this project.
Anyway, here are some shots of us from Thursday's shoot.
Here's a group of teriffic, high-spirited seniors from the East Cliff Village, Santa Cruz (along with Mr. Bailey - red sweater - who is in charge of the Bay Area headquarters for Volunteers of America.)
Here's Luke and me.
The photo of Luke on the left is out of focus because... well, because I took it and I'm not a photographer. :-(
Check out my short interview on the WedClix.com blog!
It's funny - not funny ha ha, funny like 'weird' - to read someone else's blog and have my words and 'voice' coming out of there! Check it out, won't you?
