Blu Domain Photographer of the Year

Holy smokes!

Two of my best photographer friends have both been nominated as BluDomain's Photographer of the Year! That is so ridiculously outstanding that I don't know what to do about the information. I feel like I'm friends with celebrities now! hahaha!

The funniest thing about them both being nominated is that I see how they both are constantly seeing the same prospective brides and even their brides have the tough choice of choosing between the two of them all the time! Now the tough choice is placed on the shoulder of the voters. Frankly, I don't know what I'm going to do!

Jen and Augie, congratulations! You guys deserve every bit of recognition that you get - you work hard, you're passionate and you guys are super talented. Good luck!

August 8th, we announce Blu's 2009-2010 Photographer of the Year!
Who will you vote for? Here are 3 of the nominations!

It's Time! Enter to Win a Free CUSTOM PROPOSAL!

In December, I posted about Lea McIntosh and our custom proposal project - well, Lea's launching it on her Ready To Propose website and you NEED to pass this info along.

Certainly you have a girlfriend or a college buddy who might be getting married soon. Get them in on this! If they win, you will have given them the ultimate hook-up and they'll owe you dinners and concert tickets for a long time to come! :-)

Go to the REGISTRATION page to sign up to win!

Here's what Lea says,

“I’ll design and orchestrate an over-the-top production for the winner,” says Lea McIntosh. “This will include handcrafted invitations by DK Designs; Art Deco Limo service, cruising in a 1940 Cadillac limousine; proposal cake by Cake Coquette with a custom cake topper by The Flirty Bride; gourmet meal prepared by the Casa Real chef; private session with hairstylist Armando of Get Your DO Up! and makeup artist Tiffany Chiang; flowers by Nicole Ha; luxury linen rentals from Wildflower Linen; and all magically lit by North American Theatre Technology. I’ll stage it at the beautiful Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery with the theme based on input from the winner. The couple will also receive a little something special from San Francisco custom jeweler Dilek Sezen. We promise to deliver a proposal that will take their breath away!”

The contest ends April 30th so get on it!

Hawaii Bound!

By this time next week, I will be in Hawaii!

I will be a groomsman in my friend's wedding -- imagine that; me in FRONT of the cameras for once! I will be editing during this trip - as I always do - so hopefully I will not fall too far behind on deliverables.

But here's the cool thing: next Wednesday, March 25, I am opening myself up for possible engagement video/music video shoots for couples who want a *free* video! Please simply send me an email if you will be in Oahu on 3/25 along with your contact info and maybe some pictures.

Dest_hawaii_oahu[1]

I will be out of the office from March 24 to April 1 but will be checking email periodically. Please be patient and understanding if you don't get a response immediately. You rock.

Sweepstakes Drawing 2009 #1

Melinda and Carlo are client-friends of mine -- I shot their wedding back in August 2007 at a wonderful golf club in Dublin, CA. Melinda has shot second camera with me on several occasions and I was delighted to be a part of her wedding.

I'm up here in Lake Tahoe right now with a bunch of friends and "Mo and Lo" are here too!

Here's the awesome Instant Video I made for them and showed at their wedding reception.

To see Mo and Carlo pick the first of three winners for our sweepstakes drawing, continue reading...

SF Wedding Fair Recap

For some vendors, wedding shows are "as-usual" affairs, but not for me! I only do one show a year and the SF Wedding Fair at the Four Seasons is that show. So let me recap my experience at yesterday's awesome event.

Firstly, the brides. I met so many wonderful brides, MOB (mothers-of-the-bride), and bridesmaids/friends that it's hard to keep track of them all! If it weren't for all of you who stopped by my booth, the show wouldn't really even exist - so thanks to all of you!

I only met a handful of grooms because the show organizers had the forethought to create a bachelor room for all the grooms to hang out in. I didn't get a chance to check it out, but I think there was basketball on TV or something there.

Secondly, I want to extend a special thanks to my old clients, Jean and Rich, Cherry and Aneesh, and good friend, Stacie Tamaki for coming by my booth to help out! I felt really supported and appreciate your time! THANKS!

Here's Stacie, Natalie, and Dilek hanging out at my booth.

And speaking of other vendors, many of my friends were exhibiting at the show as well. Kevin Chin, Asiel, Enhanced Lighting, Geoff White (whose Take-A-Look Tuesday interview can be found HERE), Kathy Goodman, Lily from Wildflower (who's TWC Spotlight video can be seen here), and Philippe from Jade. Some of my videography colleagues were there as well; Alex from Lumitone, Bob from Video Madness, and even Thomas from Thomas Hughes Productions chatted with me briefly about everything from video to economics; real estate to family.

At the show, I had a pretty popular Engagement Video Giveaway that brides could sign up for. I will be posting a video of the results very soon. Stay tuned! The details of the contest will also be posted in an upcoming post.

Southern Weddings (on sale now!)

SW%20Launch%20front%20sml[1]If you know your internet - and I'm quite certain you do - you know all about Southern Weddings online blog, www.swsmag.net. It's a terrific resource for brides and wedding vendors alike, and if you haven't heard of them, you most certainly will be getting ears full soon enough! They're all the buzz! (So be sure to check them out and get caught up!)

SW just published their very first print edition (congratulations ladies!) and it's all over the bookshelves at bookstores everywhere! SW is holding a photo contest for people who send them pics of their mag on the stands. Check out the contest rules here.

But my proudest moment is of these three posts that they made about my Vendor Chic back in September 2008. I feel like I am one of those cool kids that knew of a rock band before they made it big. I practically have a t-shirt to prove that I heard of them first :-)

Good luck with your new endeavor ladies!

Check out one of the videos that they featured in their post!

Uber Amazing Blog Award

One of the coolest things about the internet is it's "viral" nature. The internet is unlike any other modern medium of information distribution because it has a unique way of disseminating news from one source to another that spreads faster and further than the usual news network or paper.

When, on the internet, one item becomes popular and is reported or spread around by others, that popular item becomes world renown in a matter of days. (Case in point: the "Chocolate Rain" music video that was posted on YouTube in April of 2007 and has since been viewed almost 31 million times! That's over 54,000 views a DAY! That's clearly more than just a youtube video - that's a phenomenon.)

Well, about a month ago a gal named Jade, who writes the blog MommaWannabe, started passing around what she called the Uber Amazing Blog Award for blogs that she thought were uber amazing. She simply asked each recipient to also nominate and give the award to at least five other blogs who were uber amazing. There's no telling how many blogs have been nominated or have recieved this award by now. Try Googling the term "uber amazing blog" and you'll see just how prolific this award has become!

I'm proud to say that my blog has been nominated as an Uber Amazing Blog by Diane Phillips of DK Designs! Thanks, Diane!

These are the official rules:

Photobucket

The Uber (synonym to Super) Amazing Blog Award is a blog award given to sites who:

  • inspires you
  • makes you smile and laugh
  • or maybe gives amazing information
  • a great read
  • has an amazing design
  • and any other reasons you can think of that makes them uber amazing!

The rules of this award are:

  • Put the logo on your blog or post.
  • Nominate at least 5 blogs (can be more) that for you are Uber Amazing!
  • Let them know that they have received this Uber Amazing award by commenting on their blog.

Share the love and link to this post and to the person you received your award from.

I will be announcing my nominees soon!
