I got a chance to preview Tanja and Ryan Lippert's new storefront in swanky* part of downtown Los Gatos not too long ago. Tanja and I discussed a top secret project over lunch but one of the highlights of my visit was checking out her new studio space. Check out some pics (from my iPhone) of the wicked awesomeness.
As Tanja likes to say, "Gor-juss!"
Here's Tanja and me at Mountain Winery in Saratoga a few months ago, shooting a Nicole D'Ambra wedding.
*If you find yourself across the street from an Aston Martin dealership, you're in a swanky part of town.
I'm posting this via iPhone so please excuse any typos. Last saturday I shot a gorgeous wedding with photographer friend, Jen Skog, designed by wedding coordinator extraordinaire, michelle barrionuevo Mazzini. The event was held at the westin st. Francis' Alexander Room on the top floor. Everything was beautiful -- including the dessert served for the vendors. A berry cheesecake for each person was all I needed to leave that niht with a smile! (antioxidants = Healthful!) Imagine my delight when MB saved me a piece of the wedding cake by I Dream Of Cake! I was kind of full so I didn't really want any, but MB insisted. And I'm glad she did because After one bite, I remarked, "oh. So this cake is made out of magic." More on that later...
Yesterday I attended the Hollywood Hosts silent auction to benefit the Peninsula Youth Theatre (PYT) some great industry friends, Lea McIntosh (of The Wedding Chat), Stacie Tamaki (the one and only Flirty Girl), Kathy Goodman (of Well Rehearsed), and Michael Soo (of Soo Photography.)
I had donated my Professional Covert Proposal Video (a Bay Area first!) to be included in the "Pride and Prejudice"-themed proposal table along with Lea's "Ready to Propose" Proposal Coach services and other fine tableware. Our table - dare I say it!? - was easily the most beautiful at the auction. And by casual observation, the most hotly contested as well.
I didn't get to stay to the end because I had a dinner party to attend, but hopefully we were able to help raise some money for the PYT (whose members, incidentally, did a great job performing sketches, songs, and musical exerpts throughout the afternoon to the delight of all the attendees!) If I here more about how everything turned out, I'll be sure to report back here!
Remember not too long ago I mentioned a secret project that was going to be inspired by Bond, James Bond? Well, you guessed it; the secret project has to do with a photoshoot with a team of awesome collaborators. I won't mention too much about the shoot just yet, and the images have yet to be revealed, but just know that we decided to pursue a James Bond look-and-feel because of the triple-helping of suave and oozing sexiness that Bond consistently brings.
Dang. Look out smooth Bond is!
Here are some snapshots of the behind the scenes at the shoot (all taken with my iPhone)
The gals' all here! Wait... where's Jen?
There she is! Sorry for the blurry photo :-(
You know how if you stay up too late past your bedtime you start to get delirious? Yeah. 'nuff said.
So what did the actual shoot look like? OK... here's a teeny tiny sneak peak...
More to come!
Today I spent the better part of the day hanging out with Lily Young from Wildflower Linens and Lea McIntosh of Lea McIntosh Fine Events.
I hung out at the Wildflower Linens awesome studio space in the eastside of the Potrero District where delivery trucks are always busily roaring to and fro. You would never think that in such a grey and industrial warehouse area that there could be a pocket of such vibrant color and beauty nestled between the rest of it! I was there working on a special project with Lea - the likes of which I will reveal later on - but had a great time getting to know Lily and spend more time with Lea.
I won't go into too much detail about the time I spent there because I want to save it for when the project is completed, but let me just say this: I never saw so many wonderful fabrics with which to decorate your reception tables! It's more colorful than the inside of a Sweet Factory!
Here are a couple of photos I shot with my iPhone.
If you're looking for an easy way to make your event look more spectacular than you can imagine, try giving Lily a call or check them out online at www.wildflowerlinens.com
Anyone with a cell phone (and that's pretty much EVERYONE, right?) knows what it feels like to have a cell phone with only a sliver of battery life left and be hours away from a charger. It's not a good feeling.
Well, for the last few months, that's kind of how I've felt. With a zillion things going on and new projects and new product launching, it was hard to keep everything afloat. I needed a battery re-charge.
If you've followed my blog, you know that I've had a Redondo Beach Wedding shoot two Saturdays ago and relayed my time in SoCal into a four0day cruise with my family. It was a much need vacation and I'm happy to say that my battery is fully recharged!
I'll be updating this blog with pictures and video from the vacation as well as showing clips of newly completed wedding videos in the next few days and weeks. So stay tuned!
Lizzy and Danny were high school sweethearts. High school, for them, was where it all started - so much so, that Danny took Lizzy back to their high school on a date and made a wonderful evening out of it. He culminated the evening by proposing to Lizzy.
Now, years later, Danny took Lizzy back to Westmoor High again - this time, to get married.
Yes, they got married on a field at their high school where countless memories were made. The whole evening was an emotional one. Even groomsmen as they gave their speeches and toasts shed tears because what Lizzy and Danny have together is not only real and genuine, but inspiring.
The reception took place at the wonderfully ornate, Westin St. Francis Hotel in Union Square.
It was such a joy to finally work with Lizzy and Danny. They had booked me nearly a year ago - and besides a meeting brunch we shared last month - we've only now gotten to work together. But it was worth the wait!

Yesterday I drove down to Santa Barbara with a videographer friend of mine to help another videographer friend of mine shoot an interview he was conducting with mini celeb, David Jay.
DJ is an incredible young man with incredible talent, incredible passion, a million dollar company, a two million dollar house, and three million dollar dreams!
Observing and listening to David Jay was like sitting in a high-priced workshop. It was truly inspiring. The interview video will be published online soon and I will alert you to it when it comes. But for now, here are some iPhone snapshots...
A partial view from David Jay's livingroom. It's rough to have to look at that every day.

Ron Dawson, the mastermind behind the interview.
For more on David Jay, check out his blog at opensourcephoto.blogspot.com
And don't forget to check out Crystal THE assistant's blog.
On Tuesday and part of Wednesday I will be in Santa Barbara on a video shoot. I'm actually helping out a videographer friend of mine to help shoot an interview that he will be conducting with David Jay. David Jay is a world renown wedding photographer and founder of Showit, a slideshow presentation software used by thousands of photographers worldwide.
(David Jay was also the photographer for Jasmine Star's wedding, the subject of last Tuesday's Take-a-Look Tuesday e-interview!)
At any rate, I will be out of the office and only occasionally answering my cell phone. But please feel free to email or text me and I will respond as promptly and as often as possible.
Lastly, if you want to know what I'm doing minute to minute, you can log on here and check out my Twitter status (in the right-hand column of this page) or FOLLOW ME on Twitter.
Here is a photo of my kids saying goodnight to me tonight. I will miss them!
